POEMS
"Child's Sight"
The view caught in existence
Lies reality at hand
Once so far in the distance
That's why I don't understand
Time flew with no resistance
That time that was never planned
Life's clock had such persistence
Leaving the past to expand
Now; an unrewarding scene
A picture not to be proud
The present here is obscene
A vulgar mind became loud
Envy is the color green
And so is the tainted crowd
I pray a smile to intervene
It fails through the twilight cloud
Every foot that steps outside
Needs the eye to stay alert
Trust is only self relied
Precautions not to feel hurt
Feelings fatal not to hide
Remain buried in the dirt
Kill or be killed; you decide
A consequence not to flirt
Rainbows only shades of grey
Their arcs under the street light
Stars above don't show the way
Fools in doubt would think they might
Trust in heart leaves you the prey
Heated blood will guide the night
Brings you just another day
These days unseen in child's sight

"The ONE"
The words that can never be erased;
The pain in my heart constantly disguised by my face;
The disappointments that continue to arise;
The hurt, before the last hurt, before the last hurt that was thought to bring demise;
The one sure thing that would prosper with my seal on it;
Still, chipping at it years later bit by bit;
The hope I refuse to let go;
Because the road without it is only long and slow;
The vision I wrote on the wall of my heart with the assurance it may tarry but will surely come;
Still sometimes seems like a mirage until I hear from The ONE.
The ONE who hears, sees, loves, forgives and is constant in my life.
The ONE who continues to deposit wisdom, grace, mercy and peace.
The ONE who refuses to see me abort my destiny;
The ONE who is faithful;
The ONE who has invested the greatest seed;
The ONE whose provisions always meet my every need;
The ONE whose blood was shed for me;
The ONE who always give me the victory.
The ONE who promised to give me beauty for ashes
Is the ONE I so cling to simply because I know He is true.

"Treasure Them"
I have a great family,
That taught me how to love.
I have great friends,
That I can talk to in a time of need.
I have a great career,
That allows me to assist in kingdom building.
I have great health,
That allows me to walk, run, and swim.
But, most importantly,
I have a great God dwelling on the inside,
Who allows me to treasure all the things I have.

"Moments"
Good, bad, happy, and sad.
There will be moments or ups and downs,
Moments that will make you smile, some that will make you frown.
There will be times when you think you can't make it through,
Times when the joy will be so great, that you won't know what to do.
There will be occasions that you will struggle with decisions
Occasions when you ponder life's omissions.
You will have moments when all is well.
You will have moments when you are in hell.
There will be times when you question your position.
There may be times when you question your body's condition.
When those moments come, and rest assured they will come,
They may come all at once, spaced out over years,
They may come to you, family or peers,
But, you must face them without hesitation.
You may feel as you get out of one situation, another rear its face.
But, that's when you got to keep the faith.
Faith to know that all is ordained,
Yes, the joy, the sorrow, and the pain.
So, don't let it get you in the dumps.
Just know that it's just life's road bumps.
God will continue to walk with you.
God will even carry you.
Don't give in, just dig in,
Because at those moments, know God is just beginning.

NARRATIVES
* A narrative is a general term for a long or short story (told for any purpose), drawn from personal experiences.I Remember
By Justice Smith
I remember waking up and going through my morning routine.
I remember walking across campus to visit my professor.
I remember my professor said, "Did you hear, there was a terrible accident. A plane flew into one of the twin towers".
I remember walking back to my apartment, not giving it that much thought.
I remember turning on the television and finding that another plane had hit the twin towers.
I remember thinking, "This was no accident".
I remember being glued to the TV and hearing about a plane hitting the Pentagon.
I remember hearing yet another plane had crashed in the Pennsylvania countryside.
I remember with horrific awe the sight of the first one, and then the second tower as they fell.
I remember the look of shock, fear, anger, and grief on the faces of those I met that day.
I remember seeing news footage from around the world as many people mourned with us.
I remember seeing footage from the streets of Pakistan as people danced and cheered at the news.
I remember a country that came together in the face of adversity.
I remember people saying that they would never forget.
I remember that time passed and people's spirits began to heal.
I remember that the pettiness of our disparate ideologies began to creep back in.
I remember watching the news and hearing words like "partisan" on a daily basis.
I remember when "I" became "We", and I see that "We" has again become "I".
